BMR

Daily calorie calculator

Estimate your basal metabolic rate (BMR) and the calories you need each day to maintain your weight.

We use the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, the most widely used estimate of resting calorie burn. Activity then scales that number to an estimated daily total.

What these numbers mean

BMR is an estimate of the calories your body uses at complete rest β€” breathing, circulating blood, keeping you alive.

Daily maintenance multiplies BMR by your activity level so it includes movement through a typical day.

The two loss targets subtract a modest daily deficit using about 7,700 kcal β‰ˆ 1 kg. Real-world change varies. Losing faster than about 0.5 kg a week is generally not advised without medical supervision.

This calculator gives an estimate, not medical advice and not a prescription. Talk to a doctor before a large calorie deficit, especially if you take medication. Nothing you enter here is saved.
